The conspiracy was borne during the long
summer evenings of 2005, in the backyards of
North Idaho and South-Eastern B.C. where we would gather to play
a few tunes, drink a few beers, and discuss international politics in general and American involvement
in particular. We were all feeling disillusioned and frustrated, and
helpless in the face of a White House administration run amok, wreaking havoc
in the world while ignoring serious domestic problems. The war in Iraq
was particularly galling for the Vietnam vets, who had at
least had the consolation of believing that America would never make those
particular kinds of mistakes again. But it seemed America had tried
so hard to forget that portion of its history that it was doomed to repeat
it. Every reckless policy decision, every life destroyed by the rampages of the
chickenhawks in Washington burned on our collective conscience - somebody had to stop
this, something had to be done! Believing that it is the responsibility of
citizens in a democracy to speak out against corrupt administration, we decided that our
best hope for capturing people's attention long enough for them to
hear our message was through music. Elmer Creek Conspiracy is a backyard band
which seeks to simultaneously enlighten and entertain. America in Denial is our take
on the state of the union, a wake-up call woven into
songs that you'll have a hard time getting out of your
head.

" The music
is a delightful combination of rock, jazz, and
country. The lyrics have the
concise clarity of poetry without sacrificing the full reality that needs to be
said. The balance is striking. The music backs up and carries the words, which
the artists deliver so clearly it is hard to miss or mistake any of them. The
result is images and ideas that resonate in your brain to the tunes that add the
intangible piece to the message. The skill of reaching mind and spirit is rich
in the Elmer Creek Conspiracy."
